The components of our Live 5-Week Online Course are the following:

 

Class 1 - The College Personal Statement and Perfecting Your Narrative. The personal statement is the most important part of the college application and yet many applicants today continue to make mistakes in tone, content, or even topic. The class will cover the key components of a perfect essay and mistakes of content and style that are commonly made by applicants. 

 

Class 2 - Strategic Positioning. The ideal college application needs to tell a compelling story, but instead what admissions boards often see is a mishmash of contradicting information. During the class, we will go over examples of compelling narratives and will advise how to compose your own interesting story. 

 

Class 3 - The Supplemental Essays. Almost every university and certainly every top university will require at least one supplemental essay. What applicants often don’t know is that it is necessary to customize each such essay to each individual school. The class will cover how to do that and will go over possible outlines for such essays. 

 

Class 4 - Right Recommenders and Right Recommendations. Often students let their teachers submit bland and generic recommendation letters and these letters end up being utterly unhelpful to the applicant. During the class, we will discuss how recommendations need to be crafted and will advise on which types of teachers would be best positioned to write them.

 

Class 5 - Activity Sheet, Financial Aid and the Waitlist. The Activity Sheet is the document which will summarize your extracurricular activities, and we will show you how to correctly compose it. We will also cover what role financial aid plays in the admissions calculus and what to do if you end up on the waitlist to the school of your choice.
